Leg stiffness.
|
I am really suffering from stiff legs this year and its starting to piss me off.
I'm 47 and in reasonable health and I play cricket at the weekends but for 2 or 3 days afterwards I can barely walk due to leg stiffness, this has only started this year and I can't understand why as I have always been able to play 2-3 games a week without a twinge.
Are there any supplements I can take or do any of you WHOers have some advice that might ease my woes before the football season starts?
Yes I know I'm getting old but its such a sudden decline!!!!

You could be right Hugh, need to get back on the running machine.
Spend too long driving so that could be a factor.

Same age same symptoms. I go on an elliptical trainer for 30 minutes every morning. Helps.
Maybe you are an indormant lazy person who spends too much time sitting about?

Take between 50 & 100mg of Magnesium per 10kg of your body weight.
Avoid Magnesium Citrate, or you'll be up taking a piss three times a night.

Have exercised a lot over the years - mainly football and running. Never done any warming up or stretching in my life. Still run a couple of times a week and also do yoga twice a week as well. The one period I experienced pain after exercise was solved by replacing my running shoes. Could be some mileage in what costahammer says.

When I used to play footy normally twice a week I would always suffer with really stiff legs and some ankle pain. Had it for some years, went to the docs and just told me u need to rest for a few months and go back to it .. I did and it did nothing still had pains and stiffness!!...My uncle was doing some pyramid marketing shite and told me about these Nikken insoles .. As most I thought what a load of old bollox!!.. A month later I thought fck it why not I'll buy some as nothing else has worked plus felt a bit sorry for uncle as he was skint... Wore them in my every day shoes for about 3 months and couldn't believe pains got less and less after footy and eventually disappeared altogether.. 20 years later and still no pains or stiffness and I only ever bought 1 pair of insoles which I used for. 6 months !.. U never know might work for u !!

You can get it in a spray, spray on after a shower, rub it in.

If your body is low in magnesium you may itch for a few days as it is absorbed. Best to use it after a shower, it absorbs easily.
